This Timex heart rate monitor deliver essential fitness data in a simple-to-operate watch. This heart rate monitor is a work horse which has a lot of wonderful features, including a large display, with excellent contrast – that is very readable. Simplicity of use is a significant component of the Timex T5G971. This heart rate monitor can also be water-resistant to thirty meters and comes with an expected battery-life of 2 yrs. It accurately monitors your preset desired heart rate exercise zone, with alarms when you’ve moved out of you zone. The heart rate monitor watch records your total time in your desired heart rate zone, the percent of maximum heart rate, your recovery time, has an automatic activity timer, total workout recall and an analog sensor that works with heart rate interactive treadmills and other gym equipment.
There are a couple of minor glitches that plague the Timex T5G971. The very first is the watch sometimes has trouble connecting to the sensors in the chest strap, but we have found that this is often due to a weak battery, or too much chest hair adversely effecting the electrical connection. Some larger users have complained that the chest strap was not big enough. Like all of the Garmin heart rate monitors reviewed on this site, there is no software or connectivity that allows you to store your workout data on your computer, for later review and comparisons. Another issue with some people is the simplicity of this heart monitor – upon first glance. If this looks like a cheaply made heart rate monitor, you might be pleasantly surprised after a short period of time.
Overall, the Timex T5G971 heart rate monitor is a nice, simple heart monitor watch, especially for the novice athlete, or occasional workout. If you’re workouts are a bit more demanding, I would highly recommend that you spend a bit more money and look at one of the other heart rate monitors on this site.

Let’s Look at Genuine Customer Reviews of People That Have Bought Timex T5G971 Heart Rate Monitor:
J. Polinkas of Hartford, Conneticut wrote,
I’m in the process of burning off about 25 lbs of excess fat this summer. I’m cycling across the USA in my living room. This monitor is a very helpful tool for maximizing my cardio sessions. It’s accurate, it makes workouts more fun and it lets me know when I have to get moving a little faster.
I hate to recommend products to anyone, and it’s very rare that I’d five-star anything. But I can honestly say that this item has met or exceeded all of my expectations.”
C. Jay of Austin, Texas wrote,
Generally speaking, the monitors work. They seem pretty accurate, and they have some nice features — like the ability to set various target zones, track time in zone, and recovery. All of these are helpful, and I especially like the ‘recovery’ function, which tracks how quickly your pulse rate comes back down after exercise, a good indicator of fitness. The monitor also tracks time in zone, average heart rate, and max heart rate.
The functions are pretty intuitive and easy to use. I was up and “running” with mine after fiddling with it off and on for one afternoon, and I’m not a gadget guy.
In spite of this, there are three persistent problems that make the Timex T5G971 less than ideal, and have led us to use them less and less over the past three months. The first is durability. I wear mine often, and the little collar that is supposed to hold the excess wrist band (the part that sticks out beyond the clasp cracked within 60 days, leaving the extra band projecting from the clasp. All of its functions still work, but it’s annoying. [Read complete review by clicking the link below]”
